Mr. William Ling is the founder of Ling & Lawyers.
After university graduation, Mr. Ling started his legal career in 2003 with the largest and oldest law firm in Hong Kong.
China’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001 boosted robust economic growth in Mainland China in the following years, prompting Mr. Ling to relocate from Hong Kong to Shanghai in 2005 to focus his legal practice on China-related investment and trade matters, including both foreign direct investment (FDI) and outbound investments.
For many years in his early career, Mr. Ling had maintained a private practice with some of the largest international law firms in Shanghai and Hong Kong respectively, principally in areas of capital markets, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and commercial matters covering a broad range of industry sectors.
On top of private practice, Mr. Ling had served for years as an in-house senior legal counsel to a prominent Fortune 500 multinational corporation (MNC) headquartered in Europe.
Further, Mr. Ling had served as an executive director and the general counsel of a Chinese company listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (HKEx), whose subsidiaries included a financial company engaged in securities and asset management business regulated by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).
Mr. Ling is licensed to practice law in Hong Kong, the UK and the USA.
